Share your family stories and get all ages engaged in a multi-generational Show & Tell

What you need:

  1. Access to a group video call: Zoom, Google Hangouts, FaceTime

  2. Every member of the family on the call brings their item to show & tell.

How to play:

  • Start with an order for sharing, we suggest Oldest to Youngest to keep children excited and anticipating their turn. Another option is alphabetical order by first name (G for Grandma is ok, too :)

  • Everyone on the call takes turns sharing their item. Let everyone know they should share 2-3 facts with the group

  • Keep this open-ended or keep the game going by setting a theme for the items.

  • Theme Ideas:

    • Something special to you

    • Softest thing in your home (might be your pet!)

    • Something you got from a family member (a gift, an heirloom, a book)

    • Something that makes you happy

    • A special talent you have (sing a song, show a drawing or some knitting)

Tips for playing:

  • Younger kids might have trouble sitting still through this. It’s ok to let them move around as long as they stay quiet. Listening is a skill they are practicing during this activity.

  • If things are getting noisy, it’s ok to mute your end of the call. It will help everyone enjoy the stories being shared.

The Goal:

  • The show & tell topic will help focus calls and allow young children to engage in the connection time like it is a game.

  • All members of the family need connection and support right now. This activity aims to bring families together.
